Enderby filmmaker crosses borders

It’s a cross-border odyssey for Enderby’s Rick Dugdale.

Dugdale, president of Hollywood-based Enderby Entertainment, is currently in the midst of filming Death of an Author, the first movie in the Intrigo trilogy.

“We’re shooting all three back to back which is quite ambitious,” he said from Antwerp, Belgium.

“We’re moving from different countries. There’s not the same languages, costs or currencies. We’re in Serbia and then we’re in Belgium.”

His office is headquartered in London, while post-production will be in Sweden and seven of the crew are from Canada.

Death of an Author, which will be released in September 2018, stars Ben Kingsley.

“This is my third film with Ben. He’s a great guy and one of the best. I consider him a good friend,” said Dugdale.

While focused on Intrigo, Dugdale is also preparing for a return to the North Okanagan.

Filming of Peace will occur in the area in October.

“We have the majority of our locations in Enderby and Vernon. We’re condident we can reproduce Second World War Italy,” said Dugdale.

Dugdale is looking forward to being back in the North Okanagan, where he shot Blackway.

“There’s one language, one location and it’s home,” he said.

And on top of this, Enderby Entertainment may launch a TV series in the new year.

“We might be shooting in B.C. for a long time. We’ll look at the Okanagan but it’s too early to say,” said Dugdale.
