What’s the link between the Shuswap and the television program Big Brother Canada?

Karen Singbeil, now of Victoria, is a former Sicamous realtor and is a former president of the Okanagan Mainline Real Estate Board.

The show debuted on Wednesday with Singbeil, 53, as one of the house guests on the reality show. Singbeil worked for years from the Re/Max office in Sicamous before making a move to Vancouver Island.

She’s one of only three B.C residents on the show and is the oldest contestant by about 20 years.

The first episode saw Singbeil win Big Brother’s first competition of the season, meaning she’s safe from eviction from the house at least for one more episode.

The show appears on Wednesdays.
