Enjoy the taste of the Shuswap and treat yourself to a mixture of mouth-watering local cuisines from some of the best restaurants, delis, wineries and breweries the region has to offer.

R.J. Haney Heritage Village &Museum hosts the 20th Annual Harvest Celebration from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, featuring small servings of food and beverage items, allowing guests to sample a variety of sweet and savoury treats.

Size up your appetite and enjoy tasty samples from Askew’s Foods, Barley Station Brew Pub, Blue Canoe Bakery Café, Dolce Bistro and Cappuccino Bar, Don Cherry Sports Grill, Larch Hills Winery, Marionette Winery, Marjorie’s Tea Room, Off the Beat Pub and Lounge, Ovino Winery, Recline Ridge Vineyards &Winery Ltd, Sand Bar Restaurant, Shuswap Coffee Company Ltd, Shuswap Pie Company, Sunnybrae Vineyard &Winery, Table 24 Restaurant and Terroir Cheese.

“Harvest celebration isn’t just about food; explore the village, museum and beautiful gardens, or take a stroll on the deck of the Montebello Museum and visit Miss Puff’s Millinery, The McGuire General Store, the Montebello Museum galley exhibit and more,” says village manager Susan Mackie. “Check out the silent auction table and bid on items that have been donated by local businesses and individuals.”

Entertainment will be provided by popular local duo the Green Room featuring Elaine Holmes and Peter Clark. Elaine and Peter joined forces in 2015 and released their first album of original songs in 2017.

“Opportunity Knocked” is a creative combination of Latin, folk, jazz and pop influences with well-honed lyrical content. Holmes’ vocal power and range and Clark’s smooth instrumentals are a perfect music recipe for a Sunday afternoon in the park.

Harvest Celebration will be the last chance to buy raffle tickets for the Waterway houseboat vacation.

“This amazing prize is a four-day, three-night getaway aboard a triple-decker Genesis 66 houseboat which sleeps up to a maximum of 24 guests! The draw will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the harvest celebration,” says Mackie, noting this is an adult-only event. “Tickets sell out fast for this special fundraising event and can be purchased by calling 250-832-5243, or by visiting R.J. Haney Heritage Village at 751 Hwy. 97B, or at the checkout at Askew’s Foods.”

Tickets for this fall event are $27, and include three sample tickets. For those whose appetites go beyond three samples, additional tasty tickets can be purchased for $3.
