The lowest bidder has been awarded the contract for the 10th Avenue southwest multi-use pathway extension project.

Four bids were received and General Assembly Excavating Ltd. landed the job at $234,673. The highest bid came in at $543,772.

A staff report notes that with the development of two buildings in the 1400 block of 10th Ave. SW (ProAir / Tanto Latte and Blackstone) a cash-in-lieu contribution account and a charge-out account were opened for frontage upgrades.

Council approved a capital works project for those improvements, along 10th Ave. west of Piccadilly Mall, in 2023.

“It came in substantially over budget,” said Robert Niewenhuizen, director of engineering and public works. “We carried the project forward to this year.”

A staff report states the quoted price from General Assembly Excavating is within the approved 2024 budget ($400,000), which includes the cash in lieu and charge accounts.

Council also approved a bid from Stantec Consulting Ltd. for the detailed design for the Okanagan Ave. Storm Pond at its Mar. 25 meeting.

Stantec’s bid was the second lowest of four received at $111,821.
