Batten down the hatches.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the Shuswap.

Winds will be strong and gusty as a cold front sweeps through central and southern B.C. this afternoon.

Southwest winds of 50 to 60 km/h will shift to the northwest behind the front.

Thunderstorms are also expected in the vicinity of the front, which could briefly give even higher gusts to 80 km/h. Locally heavy downpours are also possible.
