Guidelines set for Shuswap River process

Representatives of motorized and non-motorized recreational interests have agreed to the terms of reference for review

The Shuswap River boat process is being hammered out further.

Representatives of motorized and non-motorized recreational interests have agreed to the terms of reference for a Regional District of North Okanagan process that aims to make recommendations on the management of motorized vessels by June.

“Two advisory committees are established by the terms of reference, one for the Shuswap River above Mabel Lake to the headwaters, and the other for the sections of the river between Mabel and Mara lakes,” said consultant Alex Grzybowski.

“Members of the public can participate in the process by joining a constituency that is represented in the process or by providing feedback to the advisory committees through feedback mechanisms the committees are committed to implementing.”

The terms of reference also provide for expansion of the advisory committees if there are interests not represented.
