A second wildfire near Monte Lake remains small.
The B.C. Wildfire Service reported Tuesday that the blaze, which broke out Monday, is 3.9 hectares in size.
“It’s being held so it’s unlikely to spread beyond its boundaries,” said Max Birkner, fire information officer.
The second fire is five to six kilometres south of where the Martin Mountain wildfire was sparked last week.
The cause of the new fire has not been determined.
“We have a team working on it,” said Birkner.
Highway 97 has reopened to traffic in both directions at Monte Lake.
