Highway project complete near Chase

The upgrading of a 30-kilometre stretch of the Trans-Canada Highway between Monte Creek and Pritchard is now complete

The upgrading of a 30-kilometre stretch of  the Trans-Canada Highway between Monte Creek and Pritchard is now complete.

The new four lane section opened to traffic last fall, and crews  completed minor finishing works this spring. The work adds to the three-kilometre section of the highway that was expanded from two lanes to four lanes in 2012 under the first phase of the Monte Creek to Pritchard project.

B.C. Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Todd Stone says this project will complement the work being done from Pritchard to Hoffman’s Bluff

“These much anticipated improvements between Monte Creek and Pritchard will improve mobility, ease congestion and make it safer for commuters, commercial vehicle operators, and travellers who use this route,” said Todd Stone. “Once the Pritchard to Hoffman’s bluff project is finished at the end of this year, B.C. and Canada will have invested $130.6 million to four-lane over 16 kilometres of highway between Monte Creek and Hoffman’s bluff, making the trip safer for all motorists.”

The cost of this project was Monte Creek to Pritchard project was $69 million, with $16.7 million kicked in by the federal government.
