This afternoon’s snowfall is about to get a whole lot heavier.

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt and Highway 3 from Hope to Princeton.

An anticipated 30 centimetres of snow is expected for the Coquihalla Thursday night into Friday. While on the Allison Pass, 20 cm is expected.

A frontal system draped across the Southern Interior is responsible for the heavy snow in the region.

Snow levels will rise slightly on Friday bringing a mix of rain and snow to the highways.

Drivers traveling from Keremeos to Penticton on Highway 3A are reporting witnessing multiple accidents, including a rollover near Yellow Lake.

Motorists travelling along Highway97C can expect slippery sections from the junction with Highway 5A to Pennask Summit.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
