Man runs in front of transport truck

Truck hits ditch, man uninjured but taken for assessment

On March 23 at approximately 12:30 p.m., Chase RCMP responded to a report of a distraught man who jumped in front of a commercial transport truck on the Trans-Canada Highway approximately two miles east of the Highway 97 intersection. The truck was able to avoid the man but hit the ditch. The man then fled towards the river. Chase RcMP, the RCMP Police Dog Service and an RCMP Air Services helicopter searched the area. The man was located safe a short time later and transported to hospital for medical assistance. The truck driver sustained no injuries and the truck sustained no notable damage from hitting the ditch.

Rummaging

On March 21, Chase RCMP received two reports of vehicles having been rummaged through overnight. One was an unlocked vehicle parked at a residence on Cedar Avenue. No items of value were kept in the vehicle and nothing was reported missing. The second vehicle was parked at a residence on Okanagan Avenue. Again nothing of value was kept in the vehicle. Although items were strewn throughout the interior, no items were noted to be missing.

Suspect nabbed

On March 18 at 1:55 a.m., Chase RCMP received a report of mischief on Shuswap Avenue in Chase. Suspects broke the front windows of the People’s Drug Mart and the Mountain View Cafe. On March 23, Chase RCMP investigators arrested a 25-year-old Chase man for this offence. He was released from custody on a promise to appear in court for mischief-related charges.
