Drivers wait in westbound lane of the Trans-Canada Highway east of Hoffman’s Bluff as work continues on the four-laning project.

Chase and area residents are invited to a public open house to learn more about the four-laning project underway on Highway 1 at Hoffman’s Bluff.

The session is scheduled for Tuesday, May 31, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Chase Community Hall. It is an opportunity for the public to learn more about the work planned to upgrade the highway from Hoffman’s Bluff to Chase to four lanes so as to  allow traffic to move more safely and efficiently.

Staff from the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure and other members of the project team will be available to go over the information, answer questions and provide further details on the project.

For those unable to attend, the information presented will be posted online after the start of the open house at http://www.th.gov.bc.ca/highwayprojects/bchwy1/HoffmanChaseCreek/index.html/

In addition to the open house, the public can follow the project as it progresses on the Internet.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has set up webcams at Hoffman’s Bluff to give drivers a real-time view of this section of the Trans-Canada Highway east of Pritchard.

“My ministry is working hard to widen this section of the Trans-Canada Highway at Hoffman’s Bluff to four lanes,” said transportation minister Todd Stone. “These new, permanent cameras will help drivers avoid possible delays on this section by viewing current traffic conditions in advance. “These cameras have also been added to the DriveBC webcam inventory, bringing the count of highway webcam images across the province to roughly 500.”

These web cams can be viewed, under the Southern Interior tab, at http://drivebc.ca/#webcams.
