With a short 28-day campaign period before the provincial election, candidates are gearing up to meet the voters.

The Chambers of Commerce of various communities have scheduled the all-candidates forums for the Shuswap electoral district as follows:

• Monday, April 10, at 6:30 p.m. at the Sicamous Senior’s Centre

• Wednesday, April 12, at 7 p.m. at the Armstrong Senior’s Activity Center

• Thursday, April 20, at 7 p.m. at the Celista Hall, sponsored by the North Shore Chamber

• Monday, April 24, 6 p.m. at the SASCU Recreation Centre in Salmon Arm

• Tuesday, April 25, at 6 p.m at the Enderby Seniors Complex

• Thursday, April 27, at 6:30 p.m. at the Sorrento Hall.

Another forum focused on environmental issues is planned for April 19 at the First United Church Hall in Salmon Arm starting at 7 p.m.

The groups sponsoring that event are: Wetlands Alliance (WA:TER), KAIROS Salmon Arm, Shuswap Water Action Team (SWAT) and the Shuswap Environmental Action Society (SEAS).

NDP candidate Sylvia Lindgren and Green Party candidate Kevin Babcock are confirmed for that event, however, organizers of the April 19 event say incumbent MLA Greg Kyllo has declined and will only attend the six Chamber of Commerce-hosted forums.

Voters go to the polls May 9.
