Alice (Ellie) Bowden passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2009 in Shuswap Lake General Hospital, Salmon Arm at the age of 81 years.
Ellie loved the mountains and lakes in B.C. and in Alberta. She also worked for 40 years as lead cook in many locations in the oil, gas and diamond drilling industries in Chetwynd and Sukunka Valley for coal measures which was the beginning of Tumbler Ridge.
Ellie’s grandchildren and great grandchildren were very special to her. She was predeceased by her son Robert in 1970 in Ft. St. John, BC. She will be sadly missed by her loving daughter Kathleen of Enderby, BC, brother Henry (Hank) Stieb of White Rock, BC, three sisters Lillian Hophkemier of Corte Madera, California, Phyllis Heyworth of Vernon, BC and Shirley (Gavin) McInroy of Princeton, BC, two grandchildren Myrna and Tamara, eight great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews as well as a very special & close friend Ray Lewin of Salmon Arm, BC.
A celebration of Ellie’s life will be held at a later date.
