Alton William Prouty passed away peacefully at Piccadilly Care Home on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at the age of 98 years. Alton was 35 days away from his 99th birthday.

Alton was born at Blaine, Washington on August 21, 1909, and had been a resident of the Armstrong, Sorrento and Salmon Arm area since 1944. He worked as a farmer, bookkeeper, mail carrier, sales clerk, and a store owner. He was known for his gentle personality and love of his family and friends.

A funeral service will be held from the Chapel of Bowers Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 23, 2008, with Capreece Bowers officiating.

Interment will follow at Mt. Ida Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Terry Ramsay, Gordon Preston, Wayne Prouty, Kevin Ramsay, Dean Preston and Lance Cleveland.

Alton will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Carol (Gordon) Preston; son, Dale (Sheila) Prouty of Sorrento; daughter, Donna (Terry) Ramsay of Sorrento; 6 grandchildren, Dean Preston, Deanne Cleveland, Wayne and Linda Prouty, Kevin and Denise Ramsay; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Alice Voldeng, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Bessie, in 1992 and three brothers, Edgar, Ernest and Lloyd.
