Ann Marie Lannigan passed away at Hillside Village in Salmon Arm, B.C. on July 3, 2009.

She was born in Kingman, AB, November 3, 1931 but moved to the Shuswap area as a young child.  She attended the Notch Hill Elementary School as Ann Eide.  Ann received her Practical Nurse Certification in 1962 at Saint-Vincent’s in Ottawa, ON.

She enjoyed nursing and found great joy in helping others.  Ann practiced nursing at the Plummer Memorial Hospital, Sault Ste. Marie, ON; Shuswap Lake General Hospital, Salmon Arm, B.C.; Homewood Health Centre, Guelph, ON; and Toronto General Hospital, Toronto, ON.

She was a member of the San Damiano Fraternity.  Ann had a life long love of reading and learning.  She was very fond of animals, long walks and story telling.  She had a wonderful sense of humor.  Ann loved the Shuswap area and returned to Salmon Arm to live out the remainder of her days.

She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Lannigan-Macara, her son-in-law, Ian Macara, and her granddaughter, Ann Marie Macara.  Her husband, Gerald Martin Lannigan, pre-deceased her in 1957.  She remained close to her husband’s brothers and sisters throughout the years.  Ann will be missed by her family and her many wonderful friends in the Shuswap.

The funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. August 4, 2009 at the Catholic Church of St. Joseph’s in Salmon Arm, B.C.  In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Good Samaritan Society Hillside Village, Salmon Arm, B.C. or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of B.C. & Yukon.
