BRYCE STEWART HAVISTO

DECEMBER 13, 1940 - AUGUST 6, 2008

It is with great sadness and a deep sense of loss we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Bryce passed away in the loving arms of his family; Sandra, his wife of 44 years; daughter, Diane (John) Prystupa; sons, Jeff (Kim “Kimmers”) and Ryan; “most awesome” grandson, Nicholas; brother, Alan (Susan) and nephew, Derek. He was predeceased by parents, Henry and Viola.

Bryce was born and raised in Carlin and started school at the old log Carlin School, making the long trek uphill both ways, then on to graduation in Salmon Arm. He followed in his father’s footsteps and started working for the CPR as a signal maintainer. He went on to saw filing and worked in many mills throughout BC. He retired five years ago to his cabin on the lake in Sorrento, surrounded by wonderful family and friends. At the campfire, he could entertain for hours with his jokes and stories, not to forget his love of “Happy Hour” at Gerry and Vicky’s. He spent the last few winters in Arizona, which suited him fine as he enjoyed travelling and the warm weather.

Bryce loved books, tools, hockey, building, repairing, music, fishing, crosswords, lotto tickets, collecting, making lists, telling jokes and most of all, his family.

He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. A celebration of Bryce’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 15th, at Bowers Funeral Service Ltd., 440-10th Street, SW, in Salmon Arm.
