David A. Johnston, 77, of Malakwa, B.C. passed away on January 10, 2017 in Salmon Arm, B.C. at Good Samaritan Hillside Village after a long battle with heart issues.

David is survived by his wife of 32 years, Joan Mary Johnston, his children Megan, Edward and Sheena Johnston. Grandchildren Stetson and Lincoln. His brother Douglas and sisters Edna and Lorraine. Niece Victoria and nephews Alexander, Mclean, Andrew and Douglas Jr.

He was predeceased by his mother Catherine Margaret Johnston (Stobie) and father, David Douglas Johnston of Edinburgh, Scotland.

David was known as an outdoorsman, specifically cross-country skiing, hiking but most of all open-river fishing. He will always be remembered as the “stubborn scotsman” that had the gift-of-the-gab with a great sense of humor.

In lieu of flowers, a monetary donation can be made in David’s memory so that a park bench memorial can be permanently placed at the North Fork Wild Park in Craigellachie, B.C. Please forward donations directly to Joan Mary Johnston.

At the request of the Johnston family a Celebration of Life will be announced in the late Spring 2017.
