Dorothy Mae Hanson died in Bastion Place, Salmon Arm, BC on February 5, 2008 at the age of 91 years.

Born in Regina, Saskatchewan on November 14, 1916, Mae arrived in Salmon Arm in the spring of 1948. She was part of the history of Salmon Arm, having worked for Frank Farmer at Front Street Grocery, later Simpson Sears on Hudson Street, and was bookkeeper for Peterson Brothers from 1958 until the early 1970’s. Mae is fondly remembered for all her donations to charitable groups in the form of afghans and stuffed bears. This brought great joy to her and filled a need in the community.

She was predeceased by her husband, Earl Hanson on January 14, 1999. Mae leaves her loving son, Dale (Sylvia) Hanson of Salmon Arm; two grandchildren, Barry and Donna; great grandson, Dale Jr.; and sister, Mildred McCaig.

At her request, no formal service; cremation with interment to follow with Earl in Bowers Memorial Garden.

Arrangements were in the care of Bowers Funeral Home and Crematorium, Salmon Arm.
