Mom left us behind to mourn our loss on June 24th, 2010 after having been the matriarch of a large and unruly family of strong, committed, family-oriented daughters, grandchildren, and a great-grandchild, along with several partners who have been enfolded into our hearts by the rest of the family members, just as she taught us to do.
Gudrun was predeceased by husband Henry, son-in-law Paul Jespersen, and all five of her siblings in Denmark, where she was born and lived until 1958. She is survived by daughters Birthe Jespersen (Paul), Ulla Martin, Anne Laird (Bill), and Margaret Jorgensen; as well as grandchildren John Jespersen (Marie), Sue Hufty (Marty), Lena Martin, Delia Martin, Melissa Laird, Trevor Laird, Tao Jorgensen, and great granchild Isabella Martin.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 pm on Sunday, July 4 in the Great Hall at the Canadian Memorial Centre for Peace, 1825 West 16th Ave., Vancouver.
