It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of Hazel Marie Partridge of Salmon Arm, BC at the age of 89. Hazel died in Bastion Place Care Home on February 7th, 2008 following a brief battle with cancer.

Hazel was born at home on a farm in McGee, Saskatchewan on July 12, 1918. She was the sixth of twelve children born to her parents, Dora and Henry Deitsch. In 1942, Hazel joined the Canadian Air Force and travelled by ship to England to serve in the Women’s Division. She returned to Canada in 1944 and after a brief stay in Ontario, she moved to Saskatoon to attend beautician school. In the spring of 1945, Hazel’s family purchased what is now known as the Wookey Farm in Tappen, BC. Hazel moved to the farm with her youngest sister, Eva, and cared for the farm and her sister until the

rest of the family arrived a few months later. Hazel met Duncan Partridge in Tappen and they were married in May of 1946.

Hazel is survived by her husband of 61 years, Duncan. She will be missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Marie and David, of Kamloops and son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Chris, of Grindrod, BC. Also left in mourning are her five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren: granddaughter, Kathy with husband Robert and great-grandson, Daniel (Campbell River, BC); granddaughter, Cheryl with husband Burke, and great-grandson, Finley (Kamloops, BC); granddaughter, Lynne (Grindrod, BC); grandson, Neil (Kamloops, BC); and granddaughter, Audrey with great-granddaughter, Haley (Grindrod, BC).
