With sad hearts we bid farewell to our dear father, husband, brother, grandfather and friend. Henry passed-away quietly at Bastion Place following a long struggle with dementia. Our warmest thanks to Dr. Grieve and the wonderful staff at Bastion Place.

Henry Schalm was the beloved husband of Marian Schalm, father of Warren and Wanda, grandfather of Phil, Rachel, & Tra, brother of: Alfred, David, Gerry, Ed, Margaret, Dorothy, Alma, Betty, Ruth, Edith, Jenny & Wilma. Henry was predeceased by his father, mother, sister (Esther) and infant brother (Ewald).

Henry was born in Regina, SK. He attended Bible School in Vancouver, BC and was named class Valedictorian. Henry and Marian were married October 25, 1958 in Wainwright, AB.

Henry had a long career with School District #83 as a school bus and delivery driver, he retired after 33 yrs at the age of 65. He also worked at the Vernon Cadet Camp for 20 consecutive summers, as a driver. He enjoyed playing the guitar, mandolin and omnicord - he loved to sing. He would remember fondly his journey to Bethlehem, as the birthplace of Jesus.

Henry is well-remembered in Salmon Arm as the school bus driver with the handle-bar mustache and stickers in his bus.

Memorial donations in Henry’s name may be sent to the charity of one’s choice.

A Celebration of Henry’s Life will be held at Five Corners Pentecostal Church at 2pm on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010.
