It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother at age 92, in Kamloops, BC.
Irene was predeceased by her husband; Don Stanchfield and their oldest son, Don Stanchfield Jr.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Sandra Wilcott (Bert), Arlie Stanchfield (Sharon), Lee Finegan (Ray), and Ellis Stanchfield (Kate). Also left to remember her are her Brothers, Sisters, Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and many friends.
Born in Chandler, Quebec, Irene met and married Don in Northern Alberta. After World War II they moved to Surrey BC where they raised their children. In the 1960’s Irene and Don moved to the interior where, over the years Irene worked at Tranquille and in the 1970’s, with Don, operated the Roche Lake Resort. In retirement, Irene enjoyed her friends and neighbours in the communities of Kamloops and Westwold enjoying evenings of playing crib and yahtzee.
Irene and Don took advantage of every possible opportunity to fish the lakes around Kamloops and enjoy the outdoors. Irene would patiently listen to the fly fishing lessons from Dad, then catch the biggest and the most fish…..always.
If Irene was not fishing with Dad, she was baking the most delicious breads, buns, and pastries for her family and friends and taking great pride in passing on, to her children, the art of home preserves, home baking and the value of good “old fashioned” lifestyle. Irene lived everyday to the fullest, full of energy and with dedication to good health and the outdoors walking many miles, everyday since she was a child.
But mostly, she devoted her love and time to her family.
Her most treasured and cherished possessions were her children, taking pride in all their activities, their families, and accomplishments.
She was the most beautiful, dedicated mother anyone could ever have. She will be in our hearts forever.
