John Bruce Gooch passed away peacefully in Bastion Place, Salmon Arm, B.C. on the afternoon of Thursday, October 14, 2010 at the age of 86 years.

The funeral service will be held from the Crossroads Free Methodist Church, Salmon Arm, on Thursday afternoon, October 21st, at 1 p.m. with Reverend George Fleming officiating. Tributes will be shared by family and friends, followed by a reception in the Church hall. Cremation will follow.

Born in Agassiz, BC on April 1, 1924, his family were pioneers of Tappen, arriving in 1929. Bruce logged until moving to Sicamous, where he and wife, Laura, operated Sicamous Meats and Grocery for many years. After retirement in 1979 they moved back to the farm in Tappen, later moving into Salmon Arm.

Predeceased by his parents, John and Theresa Gooch, his brother, Bill, and sister, Marguerite Braund.

Bruce is survived by his loving family, wife of 53 years, Laura; daughters, Karen (Bill) Gunn of Kamloops, Darlene of Salmon Arm, son, Kevin (Arlene) of Kamloops; 7 grandchildren, Brett, Devin, Jesse, Kayla, Landon, Morrey and Sean; and two great grandchildren, Kyle and Tatianna; numerous nieces and nephews.
