Kathleen (Kaye) Hyam

April 11, 2008

Kaye was born in Vancouver, BC on Sept. 3, 1936. The spring of 1937 she moved to the family farm in Silver Creek where she lived in a log house her dad, Fred had built. Several years later the family moved to Kaye’s great aunt’s farm at the base of Mt. Ida. At a very young age Kaye discovered she would rather tend to farm chores and work in the fields with her Dad than help her Mom in the house.

Kaye spent the rest of her life gardening, raising chickens and helping with the cattle. Kaye was very proud of the fact that the farm had been in the family since 1893 and always encouraged her grandchildren to carry on the tradition. Kaye was a long time member of the Woman’s Institute, the Salmon Arm Fair and a strong supporter of 4-H. She helped to establish the Mt. Ida Park where the Blue Herons nest. Kaye was never afraid of work to get things done.

Kaye was predeceased by her husband Frank Hyam. She is survived by her daughter Lynda Morrison of Kamloops and son Rick (Sandy) Hyam of Salmon Arm, five grandchildren; Joshua (Denise) Hyam, Courtney Morrison, Rod Hyam, Stephanie Morrison, Kira Hyam as well as many friends.

A memorial service and receptions will be held on Friday, April 18, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. from FISCHER’S FUNERAL SERVICES, 4060 1st Ave. SW @ TC Hwy, Salmon Arm, (250) 833-1129.
