Kathryn "Sheila" Anderson

January 5, 2009

Kathryn “Sheila” Anderson passed away at home, unexpectedly on January 5, 2009 in Salmon Arm at the age of 76 years.

We will miss her visits and the fun times we had over the years.

Sheila was born at home on the farm at Kathryn Alberta – Nov 22, 1932.

Spent her early years on the farm and attending the Hawthorne one room school in Kathryn… driving the 3 1/2 miles to school by horse and buggy.

Sheila was pre-deceased by her mother Helen Anderson, her father Einar Anderson, brother Don Anderson and sister Millie McEacheran. She is survived by her sister Evelyn Ferguson of Kamloops, her brother Jack Anderson of Salmon Arm and many nieces and nephews and their children.

In 1948 Sheila moved with her family to Langley, BC. She finished her high school attending Murrayville School and then spent 2 years in Eston Saskatchewan attending bible school.

Sheila was full of stories from her early years of travel. She especially enjoyed and spoke fondly of her 8 years living and working in Jamaica.

On her return to Canada she settled on the lower mainland where she lived and worked until the early spring of 1991 when she, with her brother Jack bought land at Silver Creek in the Salmon Arm area. She enjoyed gardening and country living immensely and they lived there for 17 years.

In September of last year, she and her sister Evelyn went to Sweden to visit their fathers childhood home, and reacquainted themselves with their Swedish cousins.

A celebration of Sheila’s life will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. from Fischer’s Funeral Services with Pastor Norm Russell officiating. A reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Sheila’s name may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Box 1141, Salmon Arm, BC, V1E 4P3.
