Len passed away Jan. 19, 2017 (age 84) at Pillar Lake, doing what he loved – ice fishing – with a fish in his bucket.

Len is predeceased by his father Frank (1969), his mother Fredonia (1972) and his brother Jim (2006). He leaves to mourn; his loving wife of 55 years Gene, daughter; Kim Ludwig, son; Kevin (Melinda) Ludwig and daughter; Kerri (Bruce) Frederickson, grandchildren; Mitchell, Travis (Stephanie) and Evan (Cassidy) Leggett, Rachael, Eric and Jessica Ludwig, Kate-Len, Micah and Jakob Frederickson plus three great grandchildren; Memphis, Carsen and Kymberlin as well as brothers Arthur, Donald and Christopher, sisters in law; Beryl, Betty and Valerie and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Len was born in Calder, SK, Dec. 1, 1932 on the family farm. After completing Grade 9 he worked on the family farm before heading to Youbou, BC where he worked at the Youbou Mill. He also worked in the oil fields in Drayton Valley and Nelson Mill before heading back to Youbou where he met the love of his life. In 1961 they married and settled in Surrey where he worked for Timberland Mill for 25 years and then Stag Lumber for seven years before retiring to Salmon Arm in 1999. In Salmon Arm he could take advantage of a few of his favorite things - hunting, fishing and gardening.

Len also spent time on the Sunshine Coast at “West’s Resort” in Egmont, where he enjoyed ocean fishing and prawning on his boat with all who could join him.

Len was known for his quiet ways but when he had something to say, you listened as it was usually funny. He loved practical jokes, country and fiddle music.

We will miss the man who has been described as a thoughtful, gentle, kind man with a twinkle in his eye, a special smile and a chuckle with a cheeky attitude and sense of humor with his “House Rules”.

There was an open house on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 1:00 at Fischer’s Funeral Services, 4060 1st Ave. SW., Salmon Arm (250) 833-1129.
