Lise-Lotte Arnouse passed away in Shuswap Lake General Hospital, Salmon Arm, BC on Wednesday evening, April 22, 2009 at the age of 52 years.

An overflowing crowd gathered for the funeral service at the chapel of Bowers Funeral Home, Salmon Arm, on Monday morning, April 27th at 10:00 a.m. with Jack and Capreece Bowers officiating. Tributes were shared by family and friends, including Chief Felix Arnouse, Joan Arnouse and Richard Zigler.  Interment followed in the Tappen Reserve Cemetery, with further tributes shared.

Crossbearer was Gregory “Beans” Sylvester; pallbearers were Anthony Tomma, Cassidy Tomma, Glen Jollymour, Shane Shindel, Trevor Keown and Bob Cameron; honourary pallbearers were Ernie Phillips, James Thomas, Teddi Dick, Aaron Arnouse, Ralph McBrine and Cyprian Allen.

Born in Denmark on March 11, 1957, Lise moved with her family as a child to Camrose, Alberta. In 1978, while in nursing school, she met a fellow nurse, Oliver Arnouse.  On March 6, 1982, they were married and she was welcomed into the First Nations, quickly gaining respect from the Elders.  Lise continued her education, becoming the only Certified First Nations support worker for special needs with the First Nation students in the school district. Always a free-spirited girl, she is well remembered and respected for her love of children and kindness to others. Three years ago, she ran into health problems and was on the organ transplant list until September when her health would not allow her to continue with this dream. In her memory, family and friends are reminded of the importance of life and making sure they consider being an organ donor.

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.

Lise leaves her loving family; husband, Oliver; daughter, Robin; sons, Dana, Kyle, Josh and Chad; seven brothers and sisters, Mona Fossen, Finn Olesen, Ole Olesen, Elsie Smart, Peter Oleson, Irene Hohlbein and Anne Pchelynk; and a host of other family and friends.
