It is with great sadness that we announce the passing in Piccadilly Care Centre of Lloyd Ernest Stewart on August 4, 2010 at the age of 87 years.

Lloyd leaves behind to mourn his wife of 62 years, Shirley; four children, Evelyn (Bob) Turner of Sicamous, Carol (Ron) Tyssen of Salmon Arm, Douglas (June) Stewart of Salmon Arm and Donna (Brian) McMillan of Kamloops; eight grandchildren, Michelle, Shannon, Kim, Brad, James, Ashley, Melanie and Bryce; seven great grandchildren; three brothers, Wilbert (Shirley) Stewart, Ross Stewart, Earl (Astrid) Stewart and one sister, Enid (Urb) Rolin. He was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Irene Stewart, brother, Gerald Stewart; sisters, Evelyn Stewart and Wilma Paterson and his son, James Allan Stewart.

Lloyd was born in Conquest, Saskatchewan on February 23, 1923, the second of eight children, and at approximately age 12 the family moved to Salmon Arm, BC. The farming family moved many times before settling just west of Salmon Arm. As a lad, Lloyd worked on the farm, played sports and after he finished grade 10 worked for International Fisheries and later worked for Newnes and helped to construct three area schools.

In 1948 Lloyd married Shirley and soon afterward bought their own farm (now DeMilles) and he worked at Noca Dairies for 25 years. He had served as a director for the Credit Union, loved curling, golfing, camping, fishing and traveled internationally and within Canada. For the past five years he enjoyed watching curling and baseball on TV and visiting with his family and friends. He will be well remembered for his sense of humour and his pranks.

A funeral service was held from the First United Church, Salmon Arm on Monday, August 9th at 1:00 pm with Reverend Fred Duck officiating and tribute presented by Jim Johnson.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Piccadilly Terrace and Piccadilly Care Centre for their kind and compassionate care.

If so desired, contributions in memory of Lloyd may be made to the charity of your choice.
