Stingel, Margaret Rose (nee Willoughby) of Tappen B.C passed away at Bastion Place, November 23rd, 2009 after a long, hard fought battle with cancer.

She was born in Hillcrest, Alberta March 6th, 1941 to William and Jessie Willoughby. Her early years were spent in the Crowsnest Pass where she met her husband Carl Stingel. They went on to create a home on the farm in Alix, Alberta where they raised their 3 children. After spending 7 years in the big city of Red Deer, they retired to their dream in Tappen B.C. where they immersed themselves in hard work, music and good friends.

A force to be reckoned with, she was a well respected business owner in Clive and Alix Alberta, and then later took on Real Estate in Red Deer. Upon retirement to Tappen, she enjoyed working in her garden and canning the fruits of her labor. Her pets entertained and comforted her. Exploring her creative side unleashed by using her God-given left hand, she learned to play the mandolin, wrote music and painted.

Leaving to mourn, yet celebrate her life, is her loving husband of almost 50 years and best friend, Carl; her children Dan (Karen) Stingel, Lacombe, Alberta, Cyndy (Brian) Fox, Cobble Hill, B.C and Janine (Serge Durflinger) Stingel, Val de Monts, Quebec. She will be deeply missed by her loving grandsons Ben and Joel Fox, Darcy and Derek Stingel, and Maxime Durflinger. Survived by her siblings, Leigh, Verle, and Raymond and many other family members and blessed friends. She will be greeted in Heaven by her Lord and Savior and her Mother, Jessie and her Father, William; her brother Jack and her sister Clare and nephew Jason; her sisters-in-law, Marietta and Sylvia.

The family would like to thank all the staff and the special Angels at Bastion Place where Marg was lovingly cared for in her last days. A very heartfelt thank you to Dr. Warren Bell who became a valued friend.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Bastion Place, where only good works are done, c/o Shuswap Lake Hospital Foundation, Box 265, Salmon Arm, BC, V1E 4N3.

Visitation was held on Friday, November 27th, 2009 from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Fischer’s Funeral Services, 1st Ave. SW at TC Hwy, Salmon Arm, with a Celebration of Life following.
