Marlene passed, with her family at her side, in Kelowna General Hospital after a brief, courageous battle with cancer. Her kind gentle spirit and loving nature will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Marlene was a long time resident of Sorrento, BC. She was the secretary for Sorrento Waterworks and also worked at the Lucky Dollar Store until 2006. After retiring, she took up quilting and volunteering. Marlene is survived by her daughters Cindy (Pete) Fruge and Paulette (Di) Burbine; sons Brent (Joyce) Burbine and Greg (Connie) Burbine; seven grandchildren, Haley, MacKenzie, Martika, Courtney, Keenan, Adam and Drew and sisters, Alvina (Laurie) Smith and Charmaine (Dennis) Mierau.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at the Sorrento Memorial Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Marlene’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
