Martha Sawatzky passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, June 6, 2017 at the age of 80 years.

A Celebration of life service was held from the chapel of Bowers Funeral Home, Salmon Arm, on Saturday afternoon, June 10th, at 1 p.m. with Jack Bowers the Funeral Celebrant. Tributes will be shared by family and friends.

Born in a large family, one of 11 children, in Big River, Saskatchewan. Martha and family moved to the lower mainland in BC, later moving to White Lake, and then into Salmon Arm. Having learned at a young age how to work, and be creative with meals and gardening, Martha enjoyed her time in the Shuswap. In her younger years she worked at the Salmon Arm Motor Hotel, as well in the orchards for Peterson Brothers.

She was predeceased by her husband, Jack in 2003, son Rodney in 1999 and daughter in law, Tracy Eiko in 1999, siblings, Bill, Jake, Mary, Margaret, Aggie and Rueben.

Martha leaves her loving and dedicated family, son, Jeff (Colleen) of Salmon Arm; 5 grandchildren, John, Jamie, Jeremie, Bonnie and Kelly; 8 great grandchildren; and her sisters and brothers, Susanne, Helen, Benjamin and Sam.
