Jean passed away peacefully at Piccadilly Care Centre on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at the age of 90 years.

Born at Crossfields, Alberta on November 15, 1919 to Calgary and Isobel Murdoch, she was a grandchild of George Murdoch the first Mayor of Calgary when the “town” was incorporated on November 12, 1884. She was a prominent business woman in Calgary and a long time member of the Southern Alberta Old Timers and Pioneers Association. Jean retired in 1990 and moved to Salmon Arm in 2001.

Pre-deceased by her brother George; she is survived by her nephew Brad (Sandi) Murdoch of Salmon Arm and 3 grandnieces, Tiffany (Ryan Gardiner) of Kelowna, Brandon (Ryan Cummings) of Whitehorse, Danielle of Vancouver and step-grandniece Nicole (Lee Bolger) of Enderby.

She is also survived by her sister in law Sadie Murdoch and extended families of Linde (Wayne) Spencer of Salmon Arm and Roy (Lane) Chaffee of Mission, BC.

The family wish to thank the staff at Piccadilly Care Centre for their excellent care of Jean during the past 18 months.

Cremation arrangements are in the Care of Bowers Funeral Service, Salmon Arm, BC. Interment will take place in the family plot at High River, Alberta at a later date.
