Mrs. Gertrude Mary Isabel (Molly) Biggs passed away peacefully at Piccadilly Care Centre, Salmon Arm, BC in the early hours of Monday, September 8, 2008 at the grand age of 100 years, 8 months and 8 days.

The funeral service was held from Crossroads Free Methodist Church, Shuswap Street, Salmon Arm, on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. George Fleming officiating. Interment followed in the family plot at Mt. Ida Cemetery. A reception followed back in the church, allowing the family and friends to continue sharing fond memories of Molly. Pallbearers were Darren Biggs, Trent Biggs, Curtis Biggs, Timothy Peet, Tony Peet, Trevor Peet. Honourary pallbearers were Teresa Peet, Wendy Bond, Cindy Sundmark and Sandy Bell.

Born in Duston, England on December 31, 1907, Molly has been an active resident of Salmon Arm since 1970. Following the death of her husband in 1975, the family purchased her a bicycle, as she did not drive, giving her much independence. She is well remembered for her tours of the area, including rides up Lakeshore Road, Auto Road, Trans Canada Highway (Tank Hill) and countless rides to the Falkland highway and return. She gave up cycling at 90 years of age. Her bike witnessed some 50,000 miles (yes miles, not kilometers).

Predeceased by her husband, William Arthur (Will) Biggs on September 28, 1975 and son-in-law, Harold Swenson, Molly leaves her loving family, daughters, Bonnie (Keith) Peet of Sicamous, Pat Swenson of Salmon Arm, son, Dean (Lou) Biggs of Salmon Arm; 10 grandchildren, Teresa (George), Tim (Rebecca), Tony (Linda), Trevor (Val), Wendy, Cindy (Bob), Sandy (Terry), Darren (Donna), Trent (Keira), Curtis (Susan), 18 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.
