Mavis Erickson passed

away in Hillside Village, Salmon Arm, BC on the afternoon of Thursday, October 30, 2008 at the age of 88 years.

A graveside service will be held at the family plot in Mt. Ida Cemetery on Monday afternoon, November 10th at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Bill Kiesman officiating. Family and friends are welcome to gather at Bowers Funeral Home at 12:45 p.m. to form the funeral procession.

Born in Valley City, North Dakota, USA on April 6, 1920, Mavis lived a life filled with many moves back and forth from Salmon Arm and the coast. She is well remembered and respected for her business background, having owned and operated the former Mae’s Café and Service station in downtown Salmon Arm for many years. This was on the corner of Trans Canada Highway and Alexander street.

Due to a major accident years ago, Mavis suffered for years with pain, mini-strokes and loss of eyesight. She still maintained her good sense of humour and kindness in helping others.

Predeceased by her husband, Gordon Erickson on December 31, 1997 and her siblings, she was the last of her family. Mavis is survived by seven children, Len (Sherri) Erickson of Burnaby, Calvin (Jackie) Erickson of Salmon Arm, Joyce Billsborough of Burnaby, Gordon (Lil) Erickson of Salmon Arm, Mavis (Jake) Reynolds of Burnaby, Cheryl Sellers (Yogi) of Langley and June (Darrell) Clark of Salmon Arm; 14 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
