Miss Henny Alma Stender Lund passed away in Bastion Place, Salmon Arm, BC in the early hours of Saturday, June 13, 2009 at the age of 88 years.
Born in Bornholm, Denmark on December 7, 1920 she has been a resident of the Salmon Arm area since 1974. Alma is fondly remembered for her gentle kindness in the community. She adored children, giving and receiving much love of many. Alma was proud of her sister-in-law, the late Margaret Lund, being the first female Mayor of Salmon Arm.
She was predeceased by three sisters, Doris, Johanna, Herdis; three brothers, Ankar, Eric and Jack; and nephew, Gary Lund.
Alma leaves her loving family, nieces, Carol Kettles of Salmon Arm and Judy Lund of Saskatoon, nephew, Rusty Lund of Saskatoon; sister Eva in Denmark; and sister-in-law, Betty Lund.
The funeral service will be held from the chapel of Bowers Funeral Home, Salmon Arm, on Thursday, June 18th at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. George Fleming officiating. An opportunity for friends to share memories will be available in the service or at the reception, which will follow in the Mountainside Room at Bowers. Cremation with interment to follow in the family plot in Saskatchewan.
Memorial donations in memory of Alma Lund may be sent to the charity of one’s choice.
