Paul Donald Dodge entered God’s presence June 11th, 2010 following a three-month struggle with an aggressive form of lung cancer. His final 11 days were spent in the compassionate, loving care of the dedicated, understanding staff at the North Okanagan Hospice House.

He was born in Washington, USA in 1930; graduated from Wapato High School in 1948 and went on to graduate with honors from Washington State University in Pullman, Washington in 1963 with a BS degree in Agricultural Engineering, majoring in Hydraulics. He was a member of: Crimson Circle, Omicron Delta Kapa, Alpha Zeta, & Tau Beta Pi,

He served 4 years in the US Navy aboard the Aircraft Carrier, USS Boxer CV21, from 1951 – 1955, during the Korean War.

He married Marjorie in 1955, following his Honorable Discharge from the Navy. They had 2 children, Daniel Brent and Gail Brenda, who preceded him in death.

His professional career included Rainbird Sprinklers, State Steel, Southern California Gas Company, all of the Los Angeles, California area.

Together, “Don” and Marjorie retired from the Gas Company in 1989 and moved to the Shuswap, Salmon Arm, BC area, and a subsequent move in 2000 brought them to Vernon, BC.

“Don” is lovingly survived by his wife Marjorie; his sister Oretta Perrotti, Yakima, WA.; 8 nieces & nephews; 12 great nieces & nephews; & 5 great great nieces & nephews.

A Memorial Service for Don will be held on July 10th, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. in St John’s Lutheran Church, Vernon, BC. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the charity of your choice, or The North Okanagan Hospice Society, 3506 – 27th Ave, Vernon, BC, V1T 1S4.
