Pearl Ella Matthews passed away peacefully in Hillside Village, Salmon Arm, BC on Tuesday evening, October 10, 2017 at the age of 97 years.

A Celebration of life service will be held from the chapel of Bowers Funeral Home, Salmon Arm, on Saturday morning, October 21st at 11 a.m. with Jack Bowers the Funeral Celebrant.

The eulogy will be shared by Jim Matthews with tributes led by Ernie Matthews. A reception will follow in the Mountainside room, allowing family and friends to continue sharing memories.

Born in Radway, Alberta on December 28, 1919. Pearl has resided in the Canoe, Salmon Arm area since 1945, enjoying the community, neighbors and friends.

Pearl served Canada during WW 11. She was training in Quebec to go overseas when the war ended. Her husband Bob always bragged that she was the better marksman.

She was an avid gardener and the house was alway surrounded by beautiful flower beds. Pearl was a talented quilter for many years. Pearl and Bob raised a family of 4 boys and Pearl was a wonderful mother and grandmother.

Predeceased by her husband, Robert Thomas (Bob) Matthews in 2008, her parents, Archie and Ritha Fraser, brothers, Duncan, Archie and Bill, and sisters, Maud and Kelly.

She is survived by four sons, Rob (Carol) of Parksville, Jim of Nanaimo, Ernie (Sharon) of Salmon Arm, and Bruce of Edmonton; 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
