RICHARD WILLIAM PONSFORD

Born in Fraser Lake, BC, October 4, 1924 -

Passed away in Enderby, BC, April 26, 2008

Dick is survived by his sons, Kenneth (Wendy) and Robb (Denae); daughters, Lee, Barby (Don), Renee; ten grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Dick was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Jean, and sons, Gordie and Walter.

Dick grew up in Fraser Lake and joined the Canadian Army. He served overseas during WWII. Upon coming home in 1945, he married Jean MacKenzie in Oliver, BC. They raised their family in Fraser Lake, Prince George and Enderby. Dick had been a resident of the Gardom Lake area since 1972.

For years, Dick was a familiar face at crafter’s markets with his woodwork and was known for playing fiddle at the old time dances in the area. Music was his passion. His interests were far-reaching and he always said he was a jack of all trades and master of none.

A celebration of Dick’s life was held at the Mountainside Room of Bowers Funeral Home on Friday, May 2, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. If so desired, donations in memory of Dick may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund.
