With great sadness and after a long battle with lung cancer, the family of Bud (“Smokey”) Parr at the age of 70 years announce his peaceful passing, surrounded by family, on February 4th at Hospice House in Vernon.

Although he was a man of many names - he was most proud of “Grandpa”.

Grandpa loved and enjoyed his family but also enjoyed gardening, camping with his grandchildren, fishing, playing slow-pitch, watching hockey and working in his shop creating whatever he set his mind to.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 50 years, Lenore. Children Vic (Cindy), Cheryl (Jeff) Parker, Donna (Bruce) Shuert, Brent (Nikki), Lori (Ken)Hawrys, 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren who were the light and joy of his life.

Bud worked 35 years for CP Rail before retiring at the young age of 55. He spent all his remaining years doing the things he loved...enjoying family and doing all the things he wanted to accomplish and to watch his grandchildren grow.

A Celebration of Life was held on Monday, February 9th at 11:00 am at the Evangelical Chapel in Enderby with Pastor Scott Hemenway officiating. A time of reminiscing followed with lunch and tea.

A special thanks to his amazing doctors - Dr. Hardy, Dr. Johnson and Dr. Perrier for the wonderful care and compassion given to dad. Also a heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff at the Cancer Clinic and the wonderful staff at Hospice House in Vernon. Dad especially loved the ice cream that Chad had endlessly supplied to him while at Hospice House. Donations in memory of Bud may be made to North Ok. Hospice Society or the McMurtry Baerg Cancer Fund.

Arrangements in the care of Personal Alternative Funeral Services, Armstrong, 250 546-7237.
