Al Spencer “Spike” Cederholm passed away in Shuswap Lake General Hospital, Salmon Arm, BC on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at the age of 82 years.

A graveside service was held at the family plot in Mt. Ida Cemetery on Sunday, 12:00 noon, July 12th, followed by a Celebration of Life service at the Salmon Arm Community Centre at 2:00 p.m. with Jack Bowers officiating. Urn bearers were Debby Hallstrom, granddaughter and Tyler Becker, grandson.     Tributes were shared by granddaughter, Tammy Campbell and grandson, Chad Becker, with an opportunity for an open mike. The Canoe Ladies were in charge of the reception. Guest book attendants were great grandsons, Josh Campbell and Matt Hallstrom.

Born in Avola, BC on December 6, 1926, Spike was the fourth youngest among 11 brothers and sisters.  At 25 years of age, he moved to Salmon Arm, marrying Margaret Firestone on March 30, 1951 (during spring break up). Spike worked for Federated Co-op from 1951 to 1987, most of this time on the tugboat. He is well remembered for his love of family and friends and his acceptance of others, his generous ways and his love of life.  All who knew him will have many fond memories.

Spike was predeceased by his parents, Arvid and Anna; daughter, Debby in 1971; son, Les in 2005; and eight brothers and sisters, Alice, Ed, Edith, Raymond, Evelyn, Wilbur, Roy and Ken.  Sadly missed and always treasured by his wife, Margaret; daughters, Linda and Sandy (Stan); grandchildren, Tammy, Debby (Lance), Chad (Julie), Tyler (Crystal); great grandchildren, Josh, Matt, Callum and Sienna; and his many, many extended family and friends.
