Stephen George Schaff passed away in Shuswap Lake General Hospital, Salmon Arm, BC on Tuesday evening, December 15, 2009 at the age of 85 years.

The Funeral Mass was celebrated from St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Salmon Arm, on Tuesday morning, December 22, 2009 at 11 a.m. with Father George LaGrange OMI the celebrant.  Readings by Eugene Casavant and Fran Roy, with honors by the Knights of Columbus and the Men’s Choir, organist Frances Kostiuk, with words of remembrance by Jack Bowers.

Interment followed in Mt. Ida Cemetery.

A reception followed in the Parish Centre allowing time for family and friends to continue sharing memories of Steve.

Born in Lampman, Saskatchewan on February 29, 1924, Steve and Lucie came to Salmon Arm in 1966 from North Vancouver. They quickly became involved in the community with many charitable organizations, always keeping the church and congregation as part of their family.

He leaves his loving family, wife of 56 years, Lucie; sons, George (Anne) of Surrey, Gary of Edmonton; two grandchildren, Cynthia and Lucas; foster son, Verne August of Vancouver; sisters, Margaret Therres of Melfort, Saskatchewan, Helena Maurer of Salmon Arm; brother, Leo of Winfield; many nieces and nephews.
