Mrs. Take Tanemura, Mom, Grammy, Great Grammy and Great Great Grammy passed away quietly at 7:00 pm June 7, 2008 at Cottonwoods Extended Care, Kelowna, with her children by her side. She was predeceased by her husband Archie (Ichitaro), daughter Gertie (Yosh deceased), and son Ken (Kiyoe). She is survived by her daughters Dorothy (Sam deceased), Molly (Art deceased), Hana (Glen), Ada (Ed), son Tom (Ann), daughters Mary (Yosh), and Yvonne (Tak), and son Wayne (Kathy), 29 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
She came to Canada in 1928 and lived most of her life in Salmon Arm. She loved to knit and crochet and she knit over 300 pairs of slippers for Cottonwoods, until the age of 96 when her sight began to fail.
A big thank you to the staff at Cottonwoods who helped make Take’s last few years as comfortable as possible.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kelowna Buddhist Temple or the Vernon Buddhist Temple would be appreciated.
Funeral services were held Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. fromthe chapel of Bowers Funeral Home, Salmon Arm with Reverend Miyakawa officiating. A reception followed at the Mountainside room at Bowers, prior to interment in the family plot at Mt. Ida Cemetery.
