Passed away peacefully on Friday February 13th, 2009 at age 74.  His final moments were spent with his wife and children at his beloved Shuswap Lake.

Tom emigrated to Canada in 1970 from St. Helens, Lancashire, England.  He lived and worked in North Vancouver for 23 years before retiring to Sorrento to build his dream home on the lake.  Tom spent many joy filled hours in his workshop, sailing around the lake on his house-boat and having fun around the campfire with his family.

Tom is survived by his wife of 52 years, Anne; his son Philip Darbyshire (wife Kumiko; grandchildren Michael & Kianna) of North Vancouver; his daughter Janet Walker (husband Brian; grandchildren Erin, Alison & Murphy) of Courtenay; sister Olive Parr (husband George; nephews Richard & Simon).

Tom will always be remembered for being able to reach all the notes in “You’ll Never Walk Alone” and “Danny Boy”.

Memorial donations in Tom’s name may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Box 1141, Salmon Arm, BC, V1E 4P3.

A Celebration of Tom’s life will be held on Saturday, February 28th, 11:00 am at St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Sorrento (40 km outside of Salmon Arm).  Reception to follow.
