It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Verna Marie Reynolds (nee Hodgins) on Nov 1st at the age of 81.
Marie was born at Vernon B.C on June 30th 1928. She spent most of her life in the Salmon Arm area, in her youth she spent her childhood in Silver Creek being raised for a number of years along the banks of the Salmon River, later on moving to Yankee flats with her mother and siblings, Marie was the fourth child of seven, she was predeceased by one sister Marjorie, husband Lloyd, son in law Andy and daughter in law Mary Jean. She is survived by her older sisters Lenore and Opal and younger brothers Jim, Bernard and Jack. Mom spent her lifetime in the Salmon Arm area with the exception of a move to Cranbrook B.C were she married Lloyd in 1947. They returned to Salmon Arm in 1960, children in tow.
Marie spent her working years in the service industry, working at Maes Dinner as a waitress then later at the Super Valu as a cashier.
Mother’s hobbies included fishing, camping, and gardening.
Many will remember her for her awesome abilities in the home canning department, she was famous for her Dill pickles, black cap and huckleberry jam.
Mother had a love for socialising and often would be found beneath the willow trees at her home having a lake pop with friends.
She will be sorrowfully missed by her three children Sharon, Jim and Wayne, her sisters and brothers, six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Our thanks to the doctors and nurses for their kind and compassionate care of our mother during her final days. Mother has requested no service; a celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Shuswap Lake Hospital Foundation.
