It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Vince on the morning of September 17, 2010 at the Shuswap Lake General Hospital in Salmon Arm, B.C. after a lengthy illness of Wegener’s Granulomatosis.

Vince was born in Canaan, Nova Scotia and lived there until the family moved to Ontario in 1953. At fifteen years old Vince traveled west to work in the lumber camps in Mission B.C. Vince met his future wife Jackie on one of his cross country expeditions when he was almost 17 in 1957. They were married in 1959 in Ajax, Ontario. In 1960 they moved back to Alberta where they started their family. Vince became an automotive mechanic and worked and ran his own service station in Calgary until 1969 at which time the family moved to Burns Lake, B.C. where VInce operated heavy equipment in various industries. Not one for the cold, in 1974, Vince and Jackie moved their family south to Celista B.C. on the Shuswap Lake where they’ve resided for the last 35 years. Vince spent a number of those years working as a contractor for CP Rail.

In his later years he owned and operated The Memory Lane Cafe, a 50s style restaurant in Balmoral, B.C. He spent his final working years in Alberta as a safety consultant for Ledcor, Stantec, Hazco, and Young Energy out of Calgary.

Vince?s main interests were traveling, flying, antique cars, and most of all, making people laugh. He will be remembered for his positive attitude towards life, patience, loyalty, and unconventional sense of humour.

Vince is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Jackie, their four children: Rhonda (Wayne), Scott (Rhonda), Karen, Amber (Roy), their grandchildren: Geoff, Daryl, Trent, Brad, Jayme, Kelsey, Jacquelyn, Jake, his sisters: Gloria (Jack), Rose, Dorothy, as well as many nieces and nephews, and countless friends.

A special thank you to all of Vince’s good friends and family for all of their support and kindness.

A memorial service was held at Lakeview Center in Anglemont, B.C. on Sunday September 26 at 2:00pm.
