April 26, 1934 - April 25, 2024

In Loving Memory ~

Werner B. Fernahl, a man of strong spirit and boundless adventure, passed away on the eve of his 90th birthday, April 25, 2024, in Salmon Arm, British Columbia. Born on April 26, 1934, in Berlin, Werner's life journey took him across continents, leaving an unforgettable mark on all who crossed his path.

In 1957, Werner made the bold decision to seek new horizons in Canada, arriving in Winnipeg to embrace the challenges and opportunities of his new home. Unable to find work in his mason field, Werner, with a sprinkle of humour and the dash of creativity, spun tales of his baking experience that propelled him further north to the rugged wilderness of Whitehorse, Yukon. Here he discovered a new home and also found the love of his life Diane.

In 1979 Werner and Diane embarked on a new chapter together, making Salmon Arm their new home. On Lyman Hill, they built not just one, but two houses, each brick, with inspiring dedication to their enduring bond and shared dreams. They shared a passion for exploring, often setting out on bus trips to Reno and various destinations across the US and Yukon.

As Diane faced health challenges, Werner became her unwavering caregiver, learning to cook and clean, with her gentle guidance. His devotion knew no bounds, a testament to the depth of his love and commitment.

Werner leaves behind numerous family members, each touched by his kindness, humour, and unwavering support. Though he may have journeyed beyond our sight, his spirit will forever live on in the stories we share and the memories we hold dear. Rest in peace and may your adventures continue in the great beyond.

Werner and Diane will be interred at Grey Mountain Cemetery in Whitehorse, Yukon.
