It is with great sadness that Gerard’s family announces his passing on August 19, 2008 in Royal Inland Hospital at Kamloops BC at the age of 65.

Affectionately known as “G” he will be greatly missed by his best friend and loving wife Gail, sons Tyler, Shaun (Teri), Scott (Ana) and his stepchildren Shane Sytnyk (Bobbi), Rhonda (Dylan Barton), and Deanne (Paul Heino); grandchildren Amanda Tone, Ashley Tone, Kane Tone, Kevin Graham and Reid Barton; many sisters and brothers in-law, nieces and nephews, and wonderful friends.

He was predeceased by his parents Archie and Mary Tone and brother Wesley.

Gerard was born in Edmonton, Alberta on October 4, 1942. He was very knowledgeable when it came to his cows; purebred Herefords were his passion. He involved himself in 4H as a leader and was involved with many Fall Fairs. His most recent and loved job was the making of the ice roads north of Yellowknife for Nuna Logistics. His stories and jokes will be with all of us forever. Gerard was most proud of his fishpond and water feature. He loved reading, taking fishing trips, playing darts and pool at the Legion, traveling, and card games. He had a thirst for learning. Above and beyond anything else, he loved his family. Gerard lived his life realistically and fought his cancer with great strength and dignity.

A Celebration of Gerard’s life will take place at 1:00 pm on Thursday, August 28, 2008 in the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel, with Mary Widmer officiating.

Donations in memory of Gerard may be made to the R.I.H. Foundation Cancer Service Fund, 311 Columbia St., Kamloops BC V2C 2T1, in lieu of flowers.
