Sport BC honours former Salmon Arm hockey player
Sport BC announced Thursday that BC Hockey’s Curtis Lazar, now a Vernon resident but a product of Salmon Arm Minor Hockey, was the recipient of the 2011 Sport BC Junior Male Athlete of the Year Award.
Lazar served as captain for Team BC which captured gold at the 2011 Canada Winter Games, where he broke Sidney Crosby’s record of most points and Steve Stamkos’s record of most goals at a Canada Winter Games.
He is projected to be a top draft pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
