Downhill skiers speed to top B.C. results

Salmon Arm downhill skiers Max Scharf and Mitchell Smith both did well at the 13- to 14-year-old provincial race series at Whistler and Panorama in early March.

Results were as follows:

• Max Scharf - sixth in slalom, 14th in super G and 20th in giant slalom.

• Mitch Smith - 10th in slalom, 12th in Super G and 10th in giant slalom.

Both boys earned a spot at Whistler Cup in an international competition in April representing Team B.C. Mitchell Smith  also earned a spot  on Team B.C.  to race at Canadian Nationals at Collingwood, Ont.

Thea Peasgood attended provincials at Mt. Washington and earned 48th in slalom and 62nd in giant slalom in a field of more than 100 girls in the 11- to12-year age group.
