As the third month of KIJHL regular season play continues, the Sicamous Eagles were on the road to face the North Okanagan Knights and the Osoyoos Coyotes on Nov. 9 and 10.

The weekend’s games did not go the Sicamous squad’s way.

At the Nor-Val Centre in Armstrong, the Knights took advantage of the home-ice buzz to score twice in the opening period. Their first goal came on the power play from Jordan Smith. Cole Haberlack scored unassisted with three minutes remaining in the opening period to leave the score 2-0.

Vineet Kaila of the Knights scored a third goal for North Okanagan early in the second frame.

The Eagles showed signs of life with less than five minutes remaining in the period. Sean Moleschi scored assisted by Sean Thornton and Brandon Pelletier.

Eagles’ goaltender Cole Steinke who got the start was pulled before the start of the third period in favour of Koltin Dodge.

Kaila scored another after the final period got underway, this one unassisted.

With the Eagles’ Dallas Stewart in the box on a slashing call, Alec McLeod slipped a final goal by Dodge in the Eagles’ net.

A long trip to Osoyoos was in store for the Eagles after the defeat in Armstrong.

Both teams mustered a strong defensive effort and regulation time ticked by with neither team able to get the puck past the opposing goaltender.

In the first overtime period, Sean Thornton of the Eagles was sent to the penalty box for slashing and the Coyotes took advantage. Bryson Garska controlled a pass from Brandon Della Paolera and fired it into Sicamous’ net wrapping up an overtime win.

The weekend’s games add to a five-game losing streak for the Eagles who will try to improve their fortunes on Nov. 16 in Summerland. The next Eagles home game is against Castlegar on Nov. 30.
